‘W’ CONE

The ‘W’ sandwich cone perfectly optimises the frequency response curve by fully mastering the three key parameters of lightness, rigidity and damping. When you’re listening, it creates total sound transparency and a very low distortion rate: the finesse of the resulting sound rendering is exceptional.

BERYLLIUM TWEETER

​The only metal rigid enough to scratch glass, Beryllium is the material of choice for a tweeter cone. Thanks to the creation of a pure Beryllium inverted dome capable of covering over five octaves, the only one of its kind in the world, the purity of the sound reproduction is incomparable.

The 1000 ICLCR5 loudspeaker is the Home Cinema solution installed in the ceiling for a high-calibre sound experience. Made in France, it brings together exclusive technologies, like the ‘W’ cone of the speaker driver and the pure Beryllium tweeter.

Thanks to its sophisticated design and its adjustable midrange-treble plate, the listening point is perfectly targeted for a listening experience without compromise. The tweeter level can also be set so that it adjusts to your listening room. In addition, this bass-reflex in-ceiling loudspeaker is suited to several types of application: left, central or right front channels and left or right rear channels.

Finally, the ready-to-paint magnetic grilles supplied with the product ensure it is totally unobtrusive. The installation is quick and requires no tools, thanks to the patented Easy Quick Install system.

With the ability to be positioned horizontally or vertically, 1000 IWSUB Utopia has been designed to assemble perfectly with the 1000 IWLCR Utopia 3-way in-wall loudspeaker, enhancing the performance of your Home Cinema installation. The option to customise the impedance of the speaker drivers according to the number of products assembled allows the system's performance to be adjusted to enjoy an exceptional, bespoke installation. 

FREQUENCY RESPONSE EXTENDED AT 40KHZ

Focal, after two years of research and development, produced a world first: a pure Beryllium inverted dome, able to cover more than five octaves (1000Hz – 40kHz). You may ask yourself why do we strive for an extended response at 40kHz, if the human ear can only hear up to 20kHz? If you can extend frequency response, you will improve the perception of transients and other micro details. As well, the linearity of the speaker’s response curve is mainly a function of three opposite parameters: lightness, rigidity and damping.

INCREDIBLE ACOUSTIC CARACTERISTICS

To this day, only one material permits a joining of these parameters: Beryllium. For domes with identical masses, Beryllium is seven times more rigid than Titanium or Aluminum, the latter two well known for their rigidity. This results in a sound wave propagation three times faster than Titanium and two and a half times faster than Aluminum. In the end, the linearity of the frequency response curve, the acoustic transparency and the impulse response of the Beryllium tweeter are maximized and offer near-perfect sound.
